I have taught both subjects for 20+ years in UK state schools.
In addition to this, I am a Senior Examiner for UK and International Examination Boards in both subjects. I have held roles from Head of Department to Acting Headteacher in secondary schools.
Now I am fortunate to return to my main passion – teaching students my subject
I have tutored online for approximately 8 years to students both in the UK and around the world.
Availability and Areas Covered:
Group tuition or online tuition offered
During the present circumstances, my availability is afternoons/evenings and anytime over the weekend.
When schools return, my availability is 5 pm onwards, all day Friday – Sunday.

£40 for A-level/IB
£35 for GCSE
Bio:
I have taught Economics and Business Studies at both GCSE and A-Level for 23 years within the state sector, holding a range of positions: Head of Department, Head of Sixth Form, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Acting Headteacher.
For 22 of those years, I have examined in both subjects for UK & International examination boards at a senior level; these senior roles include Principal Examiner and Team Leader.
I have delivered training to teachers on behalf of examination boards and asked to support schools develop their teaching of the subject.
Before training to teach, I worked within the UK Government Economic Service and a City of London Investment firm.
I have Qualified Teacher Status and hold an up-to-date fully enhanced DBS certificate.
My approach is to instil confidence and address misconceptions by breaking the content down into small, manageable chunks before focusing on examination techniques to achieve the highest grades.

Sean is by far the best economics teacher I have ever had the pleasure of working with. He structures his lessons around an initial topic you feel you are struggling with and breaks it down concisely using real world examples that help to illuminate his points. His ability to detect aspects of topics you find challenging whilst in the tutorial mean you are always targeting the root cause of gaps in your knowledge. This leads to a sense of meaningful progress after every lesson with Sean nudging pupils gently towards their full potential.
Sean’s level of economic knowledge is clearly unparalleled as shown by the quality of explanations, but more importantly his up-to-date knowledge of current economic affairs allow both a better understanding of the world more generally but also greater clarity when applying real world scenarios in exams.
His use of the OneDrive platform has greatly helped with revision because I can access all documents, worksheets and notes after the lesson and so when in the tutorials I can be less concerned with scribbling down every word Sean says and instead focusing on his explanations and fine-tuning my understanding.
