Bio:
I have been a classroom teacher for 11 years, and a tutor for even longer. I have experience teaching and tutoring Psychology across several exam boards, including AQA, OCR, Edexcel and Cambridge International. Alongside this, I also have 7 years of experience as a teacher and tutor of EPQ. I have a track record of excellence in results and outcomes, and pride myself on high expectations for all my students.
All tutoring sessions are bespoke, depending on the student and their specific requirements. Most of my tutoring centres around exam technique and filling gaps.
I have a substantial bank of resources which I sell online but will always make available to all my tutoring students free of charge.
In my experience, I have learnt that students are not able to retain a great deal of specific detail that is told to them. As a result, I prefer to spend less time speaking than my students during a session. More benefit is gained from the student answering questions, explaining concepts, and writing answers to past paper questions themselves.
In my spare time I enjoy creative writing, film podcasting and football.
Testimonials:
I thought you did a really good job on going through all the content with me at a pace that suited me but keeping in mind a time frame of when I had to learn things by. The work that you provided for me was especially helpful as it pointed out to me what I did and didn't know and what I needed to work on. On a whole the experience was very positive and was very tailored to my personal aims and needs. I would definitely recommend you to someone doing their A level psychology!
Grace, A level student, Nottingham
Sam built up a good rapport with my son who had not studied psychology and completed the A level in one year. He helped to fill in any areas that he needed extra support in. He was always on time and encouraged Zak to read about the subject before his lesson each week. I would recommend him to anyone who is looking for a psychology tutor.
P. Hansford, Rochester, Kent
I have absolutely loved my psychology sessions with Sam over the course of the A-Level period. He has been so supportive and encouraging, and has provided me with invaluable knowledge which has allowed me to get top grades throughout the year. I will really miss my lessons with him, and would honestly recommend him to anyone!
